ZOMG! John Mayer: "Don't Ex With Texas"

Sure, they may have split up, but John Mayer still doesn't want you to mess with Jess.

Dear Dallas and Surrounding Areas,

This isn't a sports blog, and it isn't a publicity stunt. (but have at me if it feels right.)

This is about doing what I think is right as a person, in this case speaking my mind.

I have never known anyone to have more pride in their home state and their upbringing in it than Jessica Simpson has in Texas. I don't really follow sports, but I have played some of my biggest and best concerts in your state, and having witnessed how dynamic the spirit there is, I'm betting emotions are running high right about now.

All witty barbs, blogs, and fashion policing aside, that girl loves Texas more than you know. It's one of her most defining traits as a person. So please don't try and take that away from her. (You probably wouldn't be able to, but it's less work for all involved.)

I just thought it would mean something coming from the guy who has the absolute least to gain from this. And if I'm out of line in having written it, too bad. I can spare a Wednesday's worth of bad press if it means sticking up for a good soul.

JM

Aww John, really sweet of you. Very decent. Really cool. But I think I'll go back to forgetting that you ever actually dated her now, if you don't mind.

ZOMG! Jane Austen

Starting tonight until March, they will be running all the Jane Austen movies on Masterpiece Theater.

'Persuasion': Based on Austen's melancholy last novel, the film stars Sally Hawkins as the steadfast Anne. Premieres Jan. 13.

'Northanger Abbey': Austen's first book skewers the Gothic romances popular in her day. Starring Felicity Jones. Jan. 20.

'Mansfield Park': The fortunes of young Fanny Price (Billie Piper), a poor relation of the noble Bertrams. Jan. 27.

'Pride and Prejudice': A repeat of the acclaimed 1995 BBC film with the incomparable Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. Feb. 10.

'Emma': Kate Beckinsale starred in this 1997 television production as Austen's strong-headed matchmaker. March 23.

'Sense and Sensibility': A new two-part film about the well-bred but poor Dashwood sisters and their suitors. March 30.

I can't decide which of these is my personal favorite. The heroines are plucky and smart, and the heroes are completely swoon-worthy. Captain Wentworth, Mr. Tilney, Edmund Bertram, Mr. Darcy, Mr. Knightley, Mr. Ferrars, and Colonel Brandon are every woman's dream of what a man should be....at least I know they're mine. All six of these are some of my all-time favorite movies. Don't miss out!

ZOMG! A Poll

Please notice our poll on the side of the page: What movie are you most looking forward to in 2008?

There are some good ones coming out!

ZOMG! HOTTIE OF THE WEEK

This week I have the pleasure of introducing you to a hottie you may or may not be familiar with: the magnificent Gaspard Ulliel.

A brief biography courtesty of Gaspard Ulliel Online:

Gaspard Ulliel was born on November 25, 1984, is a French actor and former male fashion model. He was born in the Parisian suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt to stylist parents. He attended the University of Saint-Denis, where he studied cinema. He began acting while he was still at school, appearing in 'Une Femme En Blanc', a film for French television. Since then, he has starred in a number of television productions, including La Bascule, Juliette, Julien L'apprenti and Le Refuge. His biggest role to date was Un Long Dimanche De Fiançailles (A Very Long Engagement), in which he played Manech, the lover of Audrey Tautou's character. He will appear as a young Hannibal Lecter in the prequel Young Hannibal, which came out in 2007.

Fun facts:
**The dead sexy scar on his cheek is the result of a doberman attack when Gaspard was 6.
**Gaspard is friends with the new 007 Daniel Craig.
**He was voted #12 in Elle (France) Magazine's "15 Sexiest Men" poll in 2007. (he SO should've been higher on that list!)

Megan's Thoughts: This guy is seriously one of the hottest dudes on the planet. I would strongly recommend that everyone see the French film A Very Long Engagement as well. It's a really beautiful love story with a really beautiful leading man!

Erin's Thoughts: It's really unfortunate that I've only recently discovered Gaspard. He's one of those celebrities that make you speechless. If he proposed right now I'd say yes, was what I was thinking went when I first laid eyes on him. And he's quite talented as well, from what I've heard. I've yet to watch any of his films, but it's on my agenda to see "A Very Long Engagement". Megan has recommended it to me.

ZOMG! It's An Introduction Post

It was a a rather boring Saturday afternoon when my cousin Megan and I decided that making our own blog seemed like a fun idea. But zomg, what on earth was this blog going to be about? That was our first question. The answer was simple: Anything and everything.

From celebrity news to movie reviews and hotties-of-the-week to music recommendations, our goal is just to have some fun. We aren't trying to compete with anyone else, and we aren't really expecting a huge number of visitors either. But we're okay with that. As long as we're enjoying ourselves and getting our minds off of the "real world" for a few moments, it's all good.

Just a warning though: This blog will contain our opinions and we aren't apologizing for them. So back off, peeps.

Now, on with the craziness.
